URBAN GOVERNANCE WITH RESPECT TO CITIES’ COMPETITIVENESS IN ETHIOPIA: THE CASES OF DIRE DAWA AND HAWASSA CITIES

The purpose of the study was to examine the factors that make cities' competitive from the governance and policy perspectives. In Ethiopia, the cities are not competitive to attract investment due to the Ethnic politics and the good governance related problems. The study proposes that the cities' administration should be autonomous to make their own policies and laws that make their cities to attract talents and investors.
